Ruby Princess December 2008

We just returned from a Western Caribbean cruise aboard Princess's newest ship the Ruby Princess. We left Ft. Lauderdale on 12/6/08 returning on 12/13/08 with stops in Ocho Rios Jamaica, Georgetown Grand Cayman, Cozumel and a scheduled stop at Princess Cays however seas too rough to tender in so the captain came on and said "Sometimes I have to make an announcement that you don't want to hear, but due to the conditions and the safety of my passengers we will be pulling up anchor and putting back out to sea!" We didn't care as it was just another beach day and the hot tubs cured our need for water. The ship was absolutely beautiful decorated for Christmas and the food was wonderful, unfortunately the scales showed it at the end of the cruise. Lon dressed as Santa Claus on the final formal night and had a great time with the guests' on the ship. We spent this wonderful week with our best friends Steve & Deb Weese with their daughters Katie and Kim starting out at a condo in Ft. Lauderdale before our cruise. We spent a day at a private resort Sunset Grande Jamaica and had fun swimming, using the water slide and playing on the water tramp. In Grand Cayman we went shopping and then spent a relaxing and entertaining day at Margarittaville where all participated in the fun and games. In Cozumel we went to a private beach where the girls went jet skiing and we relaxed in a hot tub which wasn't very hot. When you have the fun we do, enjoy the company, new people that you meet, breathtaking sun rises and sunsets you say to yourself 'What a Wonderful World' Can't wait for the next cruise April....

Thanksgiving Trivia

Was sent this and thought it would be fun to share.

Thanksgiving!

An early Thanksgiving was had with our family all here, except Christie! Lon and I love family and friends and having them around makes us a better couple. We have so much to be thankful for in our lives and celebrating this year with Josh here and Presley making her first visit to join in this great celebration. The guys went golfing and left me in charge of the cooking, grumbling was heard as I haven't cooked in over 6 months due to being on Jenny Craig but after it was all said and done we left the table full of good food. New low cal recipes were tried and enjoyed by all, amazing what a few simple changes can do. We played games, had great conversation and rejoiced in how lucky we all are to have what we have and to have enjoyed years of traveling together. God has blessed our family so much and we give him thanks!

Utah vs BYU 48 - 24

The game the guys had been waiting for finally came on November 22nd. Josh flew in to celebrate the game with his family but more importantly to surprise Noah and Monica and meet his niece Presley. Lon began the week sporting his Ute flag on his truck, while on his route Friday his fellow employees took the opportunity to decorate his car sporting their excitement for a BYU victory. We had a group of 16 or so to celebrate the game and have dinner but at 12:30 our power went out and after several phone calls we were advised that the power would not be on until 9:30pm. That was not going to work with all the testosterone and anticipation in our home so we all loaded up and went to JR's to watch the game. There were lots of loud voices as they got into the game, moans on missed interception attempts, high fives when touch downs by the Ute's were being made and disbelief on a couple of BYU's efforts to keep in the game. Our future University of Utah Cheerleader with a uniform to prove it celebrated with her dad and grandpa at her home.

Presley Shears

Presley Our First Grand Daughter

On October 9, 2008 Presley Jean Shears made a 6 week early appearace into the world to surprise us all. She spent her first month in NICU at McKay Dee Hospital before being allowed to come home. Precious Presley was home for 5 days before she became homesick and went for an overnight visit to the NICU once again. She is a beautiful 7lb 2oz little girls with brown hair and blue eyes and has more clothes than she will ever be able to wear. She is being spoiled rotten by those that have been able to see her. Uncle Josh surprised them all with a welcomed visit on November 15th and he has enjoyed feeding her and holding her and having the Presley smile showered on him.
